Project support – examples of joint donations
Both the VILLUM FOUNDATION and the VELUX FOUNDATION can support specific, well-delimited, large-scale projects for the advancement of scientific, artistic, cultural, social and environmental purposes, primarily for the benefit of Denmark and the Danish nation. The following are examples of joint donations made by the two Foundations in unison in recent years:
2011
Museum Royal Jelling
34 mio. DKK has been granted to the renovation and extension of The Event and Promotion Centre Royal Jelling
Brain-scanner for Aarhus University Hospital
16 mio. DKK has been granted to the purchasing of the first MEG brain-scanner in Denmark. The scanner can provide new opportunities for pioneering research and breakthrough in the treatment of brain-diseases.
New center for technical art history
The National Gallery of Denmark, The National Museum and The School of Conservation received 20 mio. to establish “Centre of Excellence for Technological Studies of Art for Conservation – CTS”. Among other things the centre may shed new light of the authenticity of works of art.
2010
Louisiana Museum of modern Art
New storage building for the increasing art collection owned by Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
Together with The Augustinus Foundation the VELUX FOUNDATIONS granted 26,9 mio. DKK for the establishing of a new state-of-the-art, 2000m2 storage building where the increasing art collection can be stored when not on public display in the museum.
